Can your cooling coils handle changes to your buildings and equipment?

When cooling coils are first installed, they are designed to meet the workload at that time. When updates and upgrades generating additional heat are made to the building, it’s important to make sure cooling coils keep up with demand. Take a look at your own building. Does the building now have more occupants, computer equipment, machinery, and lighting? Have there been any changes to doors, windows or the roof that would cause an increase in heat from the sun beating down on your building? It’s amazing how much heat floor-to-ceiling windows can generate if there are no shades to keep out the midday sun.

Emergent Coils can design a more efficient cooling coil to meet your new needs. 

For example, after new sources of heat have been added, chilled water coils with 4 or 6 rows may not cut it anymore. By adding a few more rows or larger connections that allow for a better flow of water, a redesigned chilled water coil is a better choice. Adding rows of tubes also increases the heat-transfer surface area.

 Let’s say your old 10-ton chilled water coil is no longer putting out enough BTUs to handle the new industrial equipment that was added to your manufacturing plant. New evaporator coils and condenser coils are needed, but you aren’t sure of the exact specs necessary. We can come up with the perfect cooling coil design for your specific requirements using our specialty software and years of experience.
