Selecting the right condenser coils for your manufacturing and commercial needs
In commercial HVAC systems, two related coils are involved - condenser coils and evaporator coils, also called direct expansion (DX) coils. I’ll discuss evaporator coils in a separate blog.
Condenser coils are heat exchangers used to heat or cool an office building, manufacturing plant, refrigeration system, or other commercial application. The most common applications include comfort heating and cooling, dehumidification, refrigeration, and reheating.
Commercial condenser coils are usually between 1 and 3 rows deep and have 3/8" tubes. Condenser coils are located outside the building, while the corresponding evaporator coils are located inside the building.
To record the specs you need for your condenser coils, use the drawings provided in the Blank Drawings section of the website. Under each type of coil, there are numerous blank drawing options. In the Condenser Coils section, configurations include Condenser Coil Connections Facing Downstream, Condenser Coil Eternal Sub-cooler, Condenser Coil U Bend, Condenser Coil G Bend and Condenser Coil L Bend, to name a few.
